Top 5 Locations in LA During Quarantine:

Happy August, ya’ll!

As we near yet another month of social distancing and COVID-19 regulations, I understand how “boring” and grueling our new normal can feel. I wanted to share some awesome outdoor areas in LA that I’ve been going to during quarantine for some well-being and general health. Here are my top 5 locations in LA during quarantine:

  • Mar Vista Farmers Market
  • Farmers Markets are a staple in Los Angeles, if you’re looking to support small businesses during COVID, this is the way to do it! Personally, I go to a local favorite in Mar Vista since it’s closest. They have amazing food stands serving arepas and my personal favorite, agua fresca. Overall, they have a really great assortment of fresh produce, baked goods, fish and red meat! Check them out if you’re in the area. They’re open Sundays from 9:00am to 2:00pm, rain or shine at 3826 Grand View Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90066.

  • Hiking at Temescal Canyon: Pacific Palisades
  • Okay, so hiking may or may not be your thing, but if you’re here in LA, ya gotta try one at least… I’d say this is an intermediate hike located in Pacific Palisades and takes about an hour all together(?) Personally, I haven’t run into any - but it is rattlesnake season, so… be aware. The entire hike is filled with beautiful views of the coast, amazing homes and best of all - mountainous nature. Once at the top, it’s a great place for some meditation before heading back down either the same way you came up, or the much shadier option (my fave).

  • El Matador Beach in Malibu
  • It wouldn’t be Southern California if not for the beaches, so ya know I had to include one: El Matador Beach in Malibu. Of course you have your most popular ones such as Venice and Santa Monica, but you have to give this one a try. It has beautiful cave-like structures and giant rocks throughout the shores which makes it the perfect location for your photo op and again, ~meditation~. Personally, it’s a bit of a hike, as well since there’s what feels like everlasting stairs scaling down what some may say is a dangerous cliff - side note: #hideyokids - but I promise the sunset views and overall vibes are completely worth it. They do have paid parking available, but you can always park for free along the highway should you wish to do so.

  • Horseback Riding in Palos Verdes
  • This might be my favorite thing to do in LA thus far, if you haven’t tried it out - what are you even doing?! The staff is super friendly and it’s about $75 for an hour ride with their tour guides.

*This is also great for beginner riders*

If you go early enough, try to take a scenic drive along the well-known cliffs of Palos Verdes, as well. Amazing. Check it out: https://pvhorserentals.com/

  • Top of the World in Pacific Palisades
  • Last but certainly not least, is Top of The World in Pacific Palisades. The views are absolutely euphoric and if you’re lucky enough to catch the sunset here, you won’t be sorry. Bring some snacks and a blanket for a fun picnic and make sure to wear sneakers, as this one is definitely a bit of a hike (potentially dangerous make sure you’re sober and aware - lol) don’t be ashamed to hold on to a railing.

*Flashback to me sliding down on my behind because your girl was trying see another day*

    Tips

    • Sneakers and an outfit you don’t mind getting a little dirty.
    • If you’re not using Waze, you won’t be able to just type in “top of the world scenic overlook” so make sure to use: 1544 Lachman Lane, Los Angeles if on Maps.
    • Be prepared to not have any service once you’re there - but again, I promise it is soooo incredibly worth every moment.

Are you in the LA area or planning to be? Try these out and let me know your thoughts down below! Stay safe, and don’t forget ya masks!

    Much Love, Babs
